Hambledon is a small, scattered village in the Surrey Hills south of Godalming, and its shop is the heart of it. It's run by the community as a not-for-profit: grocery, post office, deli and café in one, looking out over the cricket green.
The café side is all about good things to eat with your coffee. Pastries and cakes are made fresh, and the deli counter does sandwiches, wraps, baps and toasties. The sandwiches are the reason to come: they're excellent. It's a popular stop with cyclists riding the Surrey Hills lanes, and a lovely spot to sit with a cup and watch village life go by.
Before you go
The café is open mornings and early afternoons, so check the times on the shop's website before setting out.
