Cadence Clubhouse, Cocking Hill

Cadence Cycle Club was set up by cyclists, and its clubhouses sit along the South Downs Way, right where riders and walkers need a stop. The Cocking Hill clubhouse is in the Flint Barn, on an old dairy farm on the hilltop above Cocking, a few miles south of Midhurst.

It's a proper refuelling stop: hot food, cakes and the toasties Cadence is known for, with seats inside and a sheltered courtyard of picnic benches outside. There's a bike pump and e-bike charging, dogs are welcome, and it doubles as the collection point for Long Man Brewery orders.

The coffee

Cadence serves its own locally roasted coffee across its clubhouses. Get a flat white and a toastie, sit in the courtyard, and take a breather before the next climb.

Before you go

Cadence's own website gives the opening hours as 9am to 3.30pm every day. Some other listings show a later close, so check before making a late trip.
