Café Cùil, Isle of Skye

Café Cùil (say it "cool") is in Satran, by Carbost on the west side of Skye, on the way to the Fairy Pools and close to Talisker. It's run by Clare Coghill, a Skye-born chef who first opened Café Cùil in Hackney in 2019 before bringing it home to the island.

The menu is all about Hebridean produce with a Gaelic, Scottish slant, and it changes with the seasons: brunch and lunch, with local vegetables, meat and fish. The beef brisket rarebit is the signature dish, and the langoustine brioche roll is worth looking out for. With the Cuillin as a backdrop, it's a properly memorable stop.

Before you go

It's not open every day, and the hours change with the seasons, so check before you set off. It can get busy in the summer.
